The ACRF BRF provides a Mass Spectrometry service utilising a 4800 MALDI TOF-TOF. This service is ideal for first round protein identification and biomarker discovery.  We can run 100’s of samples per day and identify 1000’s of proteins per week including novel phosphorylation site discovery.  The School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BaMBi), ANU and the ACRF BRF have been awarded a 2006 MEC grant funding a Proteome Robotics Facility, further facilitating high througput protein analysis. Equipment purchased includes a spot picker and gel cutter (located at BaMBi) and an Ettan digestion robot and an Ettan plate spotter.

Services provided include;

  • Partial service, with proteins already digested and spotted
  • Full service, with protein samples alkylated, digested, desalted spotted and analysed
  • Phosphopeptide screening
  • Whole protein Analysis
  • De Novo sequencing, with inferred peptide sequence BLASTED against database
